Kara Loo

Digital Designer

I graduated from The University of Cincinnati College of DAAP in 2012 with a BS in Design.

After trying on several co-op positions throughout school, I found myself gravitating toward UX design and front-end web development. Post-June 2012 I joined a start-up in Cincinnati, Ohio where I totally evolved as a designer, bearing responsibility for major front-facing application and software redesigns, web content creation, strategy, and more. I was able to expand my understanding of web languages, writing in the contexts of HTML5, CSS3, Sass, Compass, JQuery, JavaScript, and PHP in tandem with the development team.

In December 2013, I accepted a front-end engineer position at Deloitte Digital in Denver, Colorado. At Deloitte Digital I've rounded out my front end skills, excelling in CSS/SCSS systems, UX, and accessibility while building enterprise-level apps and websites. I've built upon my JavaScript skills, getting my hands dirty with frameworks like AngularJS and working heavily with Git, build systems and more. I am confident with clients, comfortable working in project teams of varying sizes, and I enjoy what I do each day.

I'm particularly enticed by design and development for the purpose of learning, public service, or humanitarian causes. Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities, yoga, traveling, growing hops and brewing beer.
